Best Supplements for Energy

Over the past few days I have been talking about supplements essential for living a healthy lifestyle. Well supplements that can help give your health a bit of a boost. Now I want to talk about some of the Best Supplements for Energy there are.

I personally have used various supplements over the years and still use my Multi-Vitamins & Fish Oil, and also have my protein shake to hand to get an extra meal in when I need it.

Here is a run down of some of the Best Supplements for Energy as we all need a bit of a boost sometimes.

Vitamin B12

This is a brilliant vitamin which is important for making red blood cells, and helps the processing of folic acid and is brilliant for energy and tiredness. This is the vitamin which helps in the process of converting food into energy. Vitamin B12Vitamin B12 can be found in foods that we eat when keeping within a healthy diet. These can include food such as Meat, Fish (especially cod), Milk, Dairy and Eggs. In taking vitamin B12 supplements for energy, try to find one with methylcobalamin for increased absorption.

Vitamin D

One of the most effective way of getting more Vitamin D is through direct sunlight. Exposure to early morning sun just for a few minutes can be enough for your days requirement of Vitamin D. Whilst in some countries like UK where I live sunny days can be very few and far between so taking a Vitamin D Supplement is ideal. This is very important for synthesis pf phosphate and calcium in the body. Like B12 this can also be found in some foods such as eggs, fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines.

This vitamin is also great for lifting your mood, have you ever noticed how much happier people are when its sunny outside?

Vitamin C

This is also known as the ascorbic acid. This is a vitamin that cannot be produced by the body so it needs an extra bit of help. Vitamin C is a little helper of protecting the cells of our body, it helps in healing our body and also helps boost our immune system. Vitamin C supplements have been found to lower blood pressure in both healthy adults and adults with existing high blood pressure and is essential for healthy tissue and organs. Foods are actually rich in Vitamin CVitamin C are citrus fruits, chilli peppers, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, and strawberries.

Vitamin B6

It can also be called pyridoxine and is important for our bodies. Vitamin B6 helps our bodies to store and utilize energy form carbohydrates and proteins to be used at a later stage. It also helps in the formation of haemoglobin, which are the cells that carry oxygen in the blood. B6 can also be found in various foods such as pork, chicken (one of my personal favourites), fish, vegetables, milk, peanuts, and potatoes.

Final Thoughts

The vitamins listed above are some which are great additions to a healthy lifestyle. These vitamins can be obtained from either the food we eat or from additional supplementation. All of these vitamins I feel are perfect for creating more energy and great additions for that little boost.

This is bridging the gap from what are getting to what we should be getting into our diet. Always remember that they are just supplement and should only be used as something added to a healthy lifestyle and not instead of.

  1. Hey Tim,
I enjoyed the article, it was very insightful i personally use vitamin D in the winter especially, cause its harder to get outside during this time for extended periods.
I like that you got to the point and there isn’t any unnecessary fluff that i had to skim over.
Lastly are these the only vitamins that you can supp for energy?

    1. Hiya, Thank you for your kind comments, I do prefer to get to the point rather than fill with jargon people don’t really understand. To be honest there are plenty of vitamins available to increase energy which I will be covering at a later stage. However, these are really the main ones I would concentrate on and just use them to add and enhance to a healthy diet.

      I hope this helps

  2. This is great. I am a sea-food lover, salmon with skin on is my favorite kind of fish either grilled or fried. Is that something you’ld recommend for B12 ?
On Vitamin C, what about oranges like Mandarin oranges which is kinda sweet, but I love them.

    1. Hiya, thank you for your kind comments. Salmon is one of my partners favourites as well, and yes it is a very good source of vitamin B12. You can also include Tuna, Trout and Haddock as well. Regarding Vitamin C, Oranges are a perfect source of this, however remember it is good to keep a varied diet so I would also include other sources of Vitamin C. For example, Broccoli, Strawberries, Brussels Sprouts. These are just some of the lovely fruit and veg you can include.

      I Hope this helps.
